Overview
There are numerous products that claim to get rid of hyperpigmentation. However, many of these products contain bleaching agents that are harsh on the skin. Luckily, there are also many natural skin whitening ingredients that can be used either by themselves or in a combination to help clear up dark spots on the skin.
Turmeric Powder
Turmeric powder contains a property that cuts down melanin production. Mixing turmeric into a paste and applying to affected areas is considered one way of naturally whitening skin.
Lemon
Lemon contains natural bleaching properties. Additionally, lemon's high acidity makes it excellent for exfoliating the top layers of skin and removing hyperpigmentation.
Papaya
Papaya is not an actual whitener, but it contains the enzyme papain, which is excellent for exfoliating outer layers of skin and reducing hyperpigmentation.
Milk and Almonds
Milk contains alpha hydroxyl acids that are excellent for exfoliating outer layers. Almonds are often linked to skin whitening in Asian countries, where whiter skin is considered more beautiful. Women there will often wear masks made from milk and crushed almonds.
Carrot Juice
Carrot juice contains anti-inflammatory properties thought to even out skin tone. To get the freshest carrot juice, use a juicer.
